Savior of the nations come.
Advent has become so much more relevant this year. The overall theme of waiting salvation resonates with where we are physically, emotionally and spiritually.
In the midst of this pandemic we hear all kinds of conspiracy theories and I have said it before I find most if not all such theories impossible to believe. Simply because they are far to intricate for humans to execute without someone breaking rank or leaking information.
However, I am convinced Satan’s hand is in this pandemic. His name is written all over it. To corrupt nature into a virus that crosses over from animals to humans. That creates fear of gathering together as families and churches. Satan’s goal is to divide us and convince us that God is not going to save us. He does so by keeping us from feeding and nourishing our faith. He cannot destroy God’s Word, but he certainly impedes it. Jesus describes those efforts in The Parable of the Sower. From the beginning he has tried to convince us humans that God’s Word is false. “Did God really say?”
In the parable, Jesus teaches that Satan overwhelms people with troubles in this life to cause them to question, doubt, and abandon God’s Word.
Here in this Advent season we are reminded that God is faithfully and always keeps his promises. We see that in the sending of Jesus. We see it in the fulfilling of the prophetic details around Jesus’ birth, his death and his resurrection.
We are reminded that His Word endures forever. St. Paul tells us again, “You do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ in the midst of this pandemic we are assured that: “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)
So take courage my friends. “The glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
