Yet, all of this is part of the plan. Jesus the one true light pierces the darkness of our World and all seems good. What more could we ask than for the Incarnate Son of God to dwell in our midst heal our deceases and bind up our brokenness. He walks with the disciples proclaims God promises. He heals the sick. He drives out demons. He speaks to the wind and it stops. He feeds 5,000 + with a few fish and pieces of bread. He even raises the dead. How could we ask for more? It was obvious to the disciples Jesus really is the Light of the World. Peter, James and John watch as He even meets with Moses and Elijah on the mountain and Jesus physically shines.
But in spite of all the Light that the disciples see in Jesus, the leaders, rulers and powers that be cannot see it. The fight is on the earthly powers set out to stop this Jesus. Behind it all is the Prince of Darkness is ready to fight and to kill Jesus; to extinguish the light. And here we find ourselves in the midst of this war, the ultimate battle of good and evil, God and Satan. What can we do except trust in the power of Jesus to win this battle.
Throughout this season of Lent we see Jesus fight of the darkness. We see him put His trust in God the Father. Then when it seems that all is lost, when it seems the darkness has won, and Jesus the Light is snuffed out He bursts forth and shines brighter than before. He burst even the chains of death.
May God increase our faith as we again delve into Christ’s passion and see him win the battle for our sake.
