God’s Grace is truly something we will never fully comprehend this side of Heaven. I am constantly reminded of our inability as humans to truly love unconditionally. If I to do something anonymously I find myself wanting them to somehow thank me for what I did.
God’s love is a love that even truly loves his enemies. Throughout my life the times God’s unconditional love has been clearest to me has been those times when a friend or someone I loved made it clear they wished I would leave them alone. All too often this happens when the person truly needs the help and really needs a friend.
I have seen the pain in a parent’s eyes when they tell me their child says they hate them. It is in those moments that I see just a glimmer of the depth of God’s love for us. This says a lot about the times we find ourselves in today.
In the midst of the fighting, finger pointing, in the midst of the violence and name calling God is still calling out, “I love you. I gave my son to die for you.”
I pray that the eye of the masses will be opened to see his love. I pray And it is the nature of God’s love that he will not force us to love him. He lovingly lets us go our own way. Which is sad because it means those who do walk away, never will see the magnitude of His love.
God would use us to speak his love in the midst of this turmoil. That we would all someday see the magnitude of Christ’s love, of which St. Paul said “No eye has seen, No ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
