There truly seems these days to be a new fear every day. If not a new fear, at least new evidence to renew our anxiety over our present fears.
This month in addition to Covid and our bizarre weather changes, we now have the fear of WW III.
It never ceases to amaze me the fears that Satan can throw in our faces. Each one designed to undermine our faith God and his salvation.
In last week’s sermon I asked does evidence have an expiration date? The scriptures remind us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The sad truth is Humanity has not changed over the course of time either. As I have said before with all of our technological advances we still face the same problems.
I recently read an article that said, The reason we don’t find life out in the universe is because intelligent life destroys its planet before it develops interstellar travel.
Mankind left to its own ingenuity will destroy itself. St Paul said, “the good that I want to do I do not do and the evil that I don’t want to do I do. Who can save me from myself?”
St. John writes, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete.”
This is not something they made up. They saw it with their own eyes and touched with their own hands. This Jesus has come to demonstrate his love for us. He has come to prove that love by saving us.
St. Paul sums it up,” I am convinced that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.”
Satan wants us to believe that Jesus never happened, that life is hopeless, but the evidence is there.
John concludes, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
