God created the world, planted a garden and then made man so that he could give them the garden to live in. There is only one rule. The fruit of this one tree is poisonous. Satan comes and says, “God is denying you your rights. You have a right to eat what you want. Taste and see, that the fruit on that tree is just as good as the fruit on the other trees.” Then after they have eaten it, he tells them how God now hates them and is out to get them.
We see this same tactic played out over and over again. I love our country and our freedoms and I am disturbed when we are denied some many freedoms. I have to admit, however, that our American Ideology is rooted in this notion that I have certain “Inalienable Rights” which has and still feeds the idea that I should stand up and claim those rights. This idea leads us down a dangerous path that believes, I can demand my rights even at the expense or pain of others.
So Satan continues his lie. He doesn’t say, “You can get through this God still has it under control.” He says, “You! can fix this yourself.” And then convinces us to fix the wrong things.
True freedom is, knowing God has it under control. “He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”
Jesus denied His own rights and became subject to death, in order to give us His right to be called the sons of God.
Here is a radical extreme belief. Women can claim the right to have an abortion, but should they not lay down that right, in order to honor their unborn baby’s right to live.
