Christ has called us to be the body of Christ, all of us working together to advance the Kingdom of God. I see that in our church. I have had people tell me they feel so cared for here at Trinity. But sometimes even when want to be there for people we need to be directed. We have all had the experience of spending much time looking for something only to return later to find it in plain sight in the very place we had been looking for it.
Caring for one another sometimes works the same way. We miss the needs that are right in front of us in plain sight. We need to be bold sometimes and ask, “What can I do for you?” And sometimes we need to be bold and ask, “Can you do this for me?”
We have so many dedicated people in our church. They work behind the scenes and just want to help. I think it would be a great act of love to help these people help us. What if we all decided to just do what needs to be done when nobody is looking. What if we all started to sneak into the church when nobody is looking and clean or fix things that need to be done.
What if we did this elsewhere? Ever been in a restroom that needed some cleaning? Ever been in a parking lot where the carts were everywhere? Ever walked by something with a loose screw? What if we stopped for a minute and picked up a piece of trash, cleaned up some else’s mess, or took the time to tighten the loose screw. We might actually be giving someone we don’t even know a blessing, and maybe even giving them a blessing they will never know they were given.
May God open our eyes to see how we can bless others.
