On the Sunday after Christmas David Reed reminded us of God’s perfect timing.
In the fullness of time God sent Jesus to accomplish our salvation.
We are living through such strange times. It is easy to ask, “why?” or, “how are we going to make it through these days?” We have come to a point in our national history where both political parties are in such distrust of the other we are resorting to violence. We are being fed to polar opposite narratives. I strongly suppose neither to be true.
What really is happening? Satan has launched a major offensive. His goal is to pervert the truth on both sides so that we will attack each other. He wants us to believe that God and each other are our enemies. The scripture tells us:
We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the authorities,
against the cosmic powers over this present darkness,
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Who are we fighting? It is not flesh and blood. We are not at war with our fellow man. Jesus died for all. How can we be at war with someone Jesus died for.
The enemy’s goal ultimately is to get us to stop listening to God. Is it not absurd that he wants us to abandon God’s truth because religion is corrupt and turn instead to the Government of men? Then he stirs up men to desecrate the Holy Temple of Democracy.
The message of Epiphany rings out:
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
…
the people living in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”
My friends, God’s perfect timing is still at work. Jesus the light of the world breaks the darkness and calls us to reflect his light into this dark world. He has already equipped us for this battle. He has begun this work in us and He will complete it.
