“We as a united people with sound morals, values and ethics can make this country whatever we want. … We are the ones that shape our communities, not them.”
As true and profound as this statement is it fails to acknowledge one problem that problem is sin. What will it take to truly become, “a united people with sound moral values and ethics?”
It can only be accomplished by the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us an transforming us into a people of God.
The author states that both candidates are from a different world with the ability to fly away from the problems of our communities and of everyday people. The truth is that even though we may not have a private jet we all are still guilty of flying a way from the problems. We retreat to our quiet places. For some that is the fishing boat or the camp ground and for some it is simply the privacy of our homes or our bed rooms.
We as a church are also guilty we retreat to our sanctuaries or our congregations. We surround ourselves with people like us. Please don’t misunderstand it is good to rest and especially to rest in the care of our Lord Jesus. We all too often make that rest an escape or worse yet a neglect of those who need Jesus the most. All too often we act like Jonah. We refuse to engage those who need to hear God’s Word. We even excuse our behavior by saying they can come to us and we will help them.
Do we truly understand what the scripture means when it says, “That Christ demonstrated his love for us in that while we were still sinners He came to us and died for us.” You see Jesus came to us He sought us out and saved us. He has given us His life changing Gospel power. That Gospel has changed the World time after time throughout history and it has the power to do so even today.
It changed the World one soul at a time as one shared their faith with another. The Samaritan Woman at the Well had gone there when she knew no one would be there. She was hiding from everyone when she met Jesus she left her water jar and went into town telling everyone she saw, “ Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”
My friends we have the powerful Gospel Word of Christ. Each time we share that Word Jesus touches the person we speak to and he changes them.
Do you want to see this nation saved? Let’s start by saving one person at a time. Share the Word of Christ. And watch Him change the World.
