I know how eagerly each of you wait for my words of wisdom and inspiration. So here we are again. It is August, the dog days of summer are upon us and I would normally have a report of how inspired I was by our recent youth trip, but we did not go. I would recap our vacation but we have not yet taken it. I could talk about the kids heading back to school but …
So it really is August, those days when the temperature keeps rising, .You walk outside and comeback in soaking wet. It is a time when you ask do I really want to go out there? I think I will just stay inside. I think I’ll stay in the AC. Maybe I’ll take a nap. Whatever needs to be done can wait.
Sometimes the hardest part of doing something is just deciding to get up and do it. All too often it is easier to do nothing. We take the easy way out, but Jesus made a choice. His choice was to do it. He chose to get up and leave heaven. He chose to come to us. He chose to even put up with all our grief. He chose to put up with all the pain and sorrow because he wanted to save us and so in the midst of it all He set his eyes on the cross and marches forward.
He did all this for you. So in the midst of these dog days of August hear these words from our Lord.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” 9 Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
May, the faithfulness and dedication of Christ our Savior sustain you and keep you even in the midst of you weariest days
